Romantic and Pretty Hairstyles Just In Time For Valentines Day

Braided Up-do

Here's what you need:
- hair pins
- small elastic hair bands

Divide your hair in two sections splitting everything above your ears and below your ears.

2. French braid the top section of your hair.

3. When you've run out of hair to add, continue the braid until you reach the ends of your hair and tie it off with a small elastic.

4. French braid the bottom section of your hair going in the other direction.

5. Continue your braid until you reach the ends of your hair and tie it off with a small elastic.

6. Wrap the top braid around itself, tucking the ends into itself so they're hidden. Secure it into place with hair pins.

7. Wrap the bottom braid around the first and secure it with hair pins as well.

* tip: pull pieces apart to add some texture.

French Fishtail Braid Chignon

Step 1 - Brush your hair back to remove any knots.
Step 2 - Make a short part on the right side and take a section of hair to begin your braid.
Step 3 - Make a French fishtail braid from the top right to the bottom left of your hair. French fishtail braids use the same technique as a regular fishtail but you add in extra hair from each side as you braid. Pick up a small section of hair from the left and cross it into your right hand. Pick up a small section of hair on your right side and cross it over into your left hand. Repeat this as your braid diagonally down your head.
Tip: For fishtail braids, I find it helpful to think of them as two ponytails. Hold one ponytail in each hand and then you cross little pieces over from one side to the other, always keeping one ponytail in the palm of your hand.
Step 4 - When your braid reached behind your left ear, start to curve it around and braid along your lower hairline. Continue into a regular side fishtail braid until all your hair is braided. Secure the end with an elastic.
Tip: Use a small clear elastic as it won’t show when you create the chignon.
Step 5 - Twist the braid up and around into a spiral bun. Pin in place with bobby pins

The Perfect Mermaid Curls

Supplies: 1″ curling iron, brush, and hair spray

1. While heating up your iron on the hottest setting, brush out your hair. I’m a believer in a little bit of frizz and imperfection, so I don’t put any product in it beforehand.
2. Grab a small chunk of hair, no larger than 1 inch. The more hair you curl at once, the less tight your curls will be. You can spray this before you curl, but I’m usually too lazy.

. Starting at the roots of your hair, and without using the clasp, wrap your hair down the barrel. Hold the ends of your hair with your fingers on the end of your iron (if your iron doesn’t get hot at the end). Try not to overlap your hair as you wrap it around – this way all of it gets hot. Leave it there for 15-20 long seconds

4. Tilt your curling iron downward, and let your curls fall off the barrel. I try to pull as little as possible so that they don’t straighten out.

5. Spray with hairspray. And you have a curl!
Repeat this around your entire head. Scrunch curls if need be. Once I’m done, I wrap some of my curls around each other so that they form larger ringlets rather than a bunch of tiny ones.
Don’t get lazy with the back of your head! I’ve noticed that my curls tend to fall out in the back first, so pay special attention to the back so that you don’t have lovely, bouncy, voluminous hair in the front, and wet-dog hair in the back.
