DIY Natural and Non Toxic Beauty Recipes for Your Lips and Teeth

DIY Lip Butters (Vanilla and Liquid Brownie)

Ingredients:
Chapstick containers
Colored paper, ribbon, tape, nail polish to decorate

1 tb coconut oil
1 tb cocoa butter
1 tb beeswax (2 tsp for a softer butter)
1 tsp cacao powder (for chocolate)
4-5 drops essential oil, I used vanilla
5 drops progest E

Directions:

Finely chop cocoa butter, measure 1 tablespoon.
Finely chop beeswax, measure 1 tablespoon.
Combine in saucepan coconut oil, cocoa butter, beeswax, and cacao powder (optional). Allow to melt, stir, pour in chapstick containers to cool and harden.
Let chapstick cool for about 5-10 minutes before decorating.
*1 recipe makes approximately 4 containers of lip butter.

Coconut Oil Tooth Scrub

Ingredients:
4 Tablespoons Coconut oil, whipped or melted
2 Tablespoons Bentonite Clay
2 Tablespoons Baking Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Natural Green Stevia
10-15 Drops of Peppermint Essential Oil

Directions:
Combine all ingredients until smooth and blended (I used my food processor to mix them up). You may add more coconut oil or dry ingredients to create a paste with a texture you prefer.
To use, just spread a small amount of tooth scrub on your tooth-brush and brush your teeth like you would with tooth paste. Store in an airtight container.

Mint Chocolate Lip Balm

Ingredients:

1 tsp. Cocoa Butter
1 tsp. Beeswax

Directions:

Fill a medium sized pot with water and place a glass bowl (preferable with a spout) in the water.  Turn stove on medium and melt Cocoa Butter, Oil, and Beeswax in glass bowl.  Once all your ingredients are melted add essential oil and pour into lip balm tube or a round tin.  This recipe makes approximately 1 oz.  For added yumminess, you can add about 1/2 a tsp. of sugar to the ingredients!

Burt's Bees Lip Balm (Copycat Recipe)

Ingredients:

20 grams Beeswax (about 3 Tablespoons of the whiter beads, but you can use a white/yellow bar too)
20 grams Cocoa Butter or Coconut Oil (about 2 Tablespoons)
45 grams Sunflower Oil (1/4 cup)
8 drops Vitaman E oil (4 vitamin E oil tablets worth)
Pea-sized drop of Lanolin (don’t use much of this or your balm will taste bad)

Directions:

Step one – measure out all your ingredients except essential oils into a cup or pan. I cut open the little Vitamin E tablets and squeezed the good stuff into the cup
.Next, melt all the ingredients, and stir. The beeswax seemed to take the longest to melt, but it was all melted within a couple of minutes.

Once it’s all melted add your essential oils and mix it up.

Then test it out, to make sure it has the flavor you want by letting a tiny bit cool on your finger. Rub it on your lips and check if its just right. If you feel it needs more mint or other flavorings, add more!
Then use a dropper to add the melted goodness into chapstick tubes. (If it cools too quickly before you’re done filling your tubes, just pop it in the microwave till it melts again.)

Homemade Mouthwash

Ingredients:
2 teaspoons calcium carbonate powder
1 teaspoon xylitol crystals
2 cups of filtered water

Directions:
In a large glass mixing cup, stir together the calcium powder and xylitol crystals.
Add liquid minerals and essential oils.
Add water and stir.
Pour mixture into a glass bottle (I reused an old apple cider vinegar bottle).
Close the lid tightly and shake ingredients together for about 30-60 seconds so the xylitol dissolves.
Shake well before using.
Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks

Remineralizing Toothpaste

Ingredients:

1/3 cup of Bentonite Clay
1/4 cup of boiling water
1 Tablespoon of coconut Oil
1/4 teaspoon of Real Salt
1/2 teaspoon of REAL stevia
15 Drops of OnGuard (or Thieves) Essential oil
10 Drops of Peppermint Essential oil

Directions:

Step One: Put your bentonite clay in a bowl. Heat the water on the stove and then stir in the coconut oil till it is melted.
Step Two: With a hand mixer, mix on medium speed the bentonite clay and the water/oil mixture till blended through.
Step Three: Add the salt, stevia, and essential oils and continue to blend until it is completely blended.
Step Four: Keep in a covered jar!
*The mixture will harden a little bit as it sits because of the coconut oil. This makes it easier to add a bit to your toothbrush when you brush.

Squeezable Toothpaste

Ingredients:
3 Tbsp bentonite clay
2 tbsp coconut oil, at room temperature/liquid state
1 tsp whole ground stevia (this should be green not the white powder)
¾ tsp unrefined high mineral salt
1 tsp baking soda
3 Tbsp distilled water to thin, more as needed
1/4 tsp Thieves oil or any therapeutic grade essential oil you prefer

Directions:

In a small glass bowl, blend together the coconut oil, stevia, salt, baking soda and essential oil until well incorporated. Mix in the bentonite clay and then slowly add the water a tablespoon at a time. When you have a smooth paste you are done! Scoop into your bpa-free tube and you will have squeezable toothpaste!
